Input from Alan Blasenstein:

It felt like midsummer on Sept 8 for the first Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour.  Over 1,200 riders and walkers turned out to discover the sights, neighborhoods, and parks of Hartford.  Even many longtime Hartford residents and visitors saw the city from a new angle, whether it was the friendly neighbors of Forster Park, the many colors of Elizabeth Park, the green expanses of Keney Park, or the scenic views of the Connecticut River and the new Riverside Park paved path.  Riders new to the pleasures of bicycle touring found that 25 miles wasn't all that difficult after all, especially in the company of a thousand other riders.

I thought the ride was fabulous.  Well organize, well attended and a
wonderful way to see all the different parks and corners of Hartford.  I
saw so many new sites and met some really lovely people.  I can't wait to
do it again next year.  LTL

CCBA Ladies and Gentlemen,

Congratulations on a fine job on the September 2007 Hartford Parks Bike Tour!  It was very well organized and from a participant’s point of view, it ran like a well oiled clock.  I participated in the first three or four tours several years ago that Georgette organized and it took a few years to attract over a thousand riders and I was a little dubious that you would attract so many on your first try.  There was a great turn out.

I enjoyed the different route you established and was amazed at the new changes and developments throughout the city of Hartford.  The boys in blue did a great job as well, and they were always on hand to control traffic, help out, and were easy to talk to.  Definitely good P.R.
